One of the keys to being successful is cultivating relationships. Fortunately for 200 little angels, each Christmas brings the fruits of those labors in the form of food and toys for underprivileged people.
"Without our industry partners such as Howard Industries and the individuals who donate so much to us at this time of year, we just wouldn't be able to do the things we do," said Salvation Army Captain Jonathan McBride, inside the foyer of the Howard Industries Transformer Division Tuesday. "This support is so very important to us and to the families who will receive these gifts of toys and food."
Each year, Howard Industries employees pool their massive resources and compassion to help others not as fortunate. The giving nature is replayed over and over by other businesses and private individuals.
"The real meaning of Christmas should be exemplified in our thoughts towards children," said Michael Howard, president of Howard Industries Transformer Division. "What better way to celebrate Christmas than in helping ensure children and their families have a merry Christmas."
Stacks of food boxes that reached 10 feet surrounded the foyer that was dominated by a very tall Christmas tree. In front of the tree were bags of gifts for the angels and bicycles that were too numerous to count. Approximately 200 names from the Angel Tree have been taken care of along with scores of food boxes. Employees also donated a large sum of money to be used for purchasing other canned goods for those in need.
